multiple through data in a range

I have in row B5-b25 dates, and then in c5-c25 #'s of money.

In RowF3, user put the start date, and in Row F4 user puts end date.

I need the formula to go down and Multiply the #'s in between the random dates, however the formula I have only adds: Can someone help, this formula only adds, regardless of the multiplication sign.

    Your description almost suggests

Where does the multiplication come into it?

    What am I missing?

You would do best to post a sample workbook showing the result you expect from the sample data.

    Cheers

Re: multiple through data in a range

I just need the data to multiple itself,

so in the attached document, for example if start date is 2/1/2002, and end date is 5/1/2002. Then I need the data in column B to multiple: so 450*899*260*530=total

From your sample workbook the answer would be

    5.3638560464243E+23

Is that what you are expecting?

From this in your sample workbook.

    Start Date 6/1/2002
    End date 6/1/2003

What is the point of this?

Re: multiple through data in a range

    Try this in row 5
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Drag/Fill Down

This should allow for header text, and non-sequential dates.
It could also be in a hidden column, but I don't know what your needs are for the rest of your pages, so I have used column F.

Then in the required result cell

    Hope this helps.

Re: multiple through data in a range

    Wouldn't your result be unusable?
By the way your example does show
    Start Date 6/1/2002
    End date 6/1/2003
Not- start date is 2/1/2002, and end date is 5/1/2002 as you have indicated

Multiplying costs with each other just doesn't make any sense.

I'm as confused as you Dave, but that's what gill389, seems to want, why I don't know.
