Calculating Net Income from Three Sources

I know this would simple for someone else, but is not for me!

I need a formula to do the following:

I have 3 columns of 3 different types of gross income, a 4th column for Expenses and a column for Net Income. I need the Column for Net Income to calculate no matter which type of income is inputted.

    Column B Titled Income 1
    Column C Titled Income 2
    Column D Titled Income 3
    Column E Titled Total Expenses
    Column F Titled Net Income.

Whether an amount is entered in either Columns B, C or D, I need the entered amount to subtract the amount in Column E and put a correct Net income in Column F.

Please help ASAP! I hope I made this clear enough! Thank you, Everyone, in advance!

Place this formula in F column (F1) and drag, =E1-SUM(B1:D1)

I think that the formula is backwards and should read =SUM(B1:D1) - E1. But you were on the right track.
