Charting data series with unequal number of data points

    Hello,

I am trying to graph 2 data series together on one chart. I have already created dual X and Y axes. The problem is the 2 series have an unequal number of data points. Therefore, the series with less data points gets cutoff when the other series ends, and they don't match up across the dates.

    Thank you,
    Erik

    are you using a xy-scatter?

really difficult o offer any more advise without more details of the data, what information you are trying to impart to the reader with your graphic and example data values/layout.
    Cheers

Re: Charting data series with unequal number of data points

Thank you for the reply. I have uploaded the file, please look at the 2nd tab titled "Charts". The total time period for each series is the same, but the frequency is different. The 30yr treasury data is displayed from 1977 to the present, while the jobless claims data is only displayed from 1977 to 1983, due to it having far less data points. I would like this line on the graph to be displayed for the entire series.

    Thank you,
    Erik

I have added 3 extra data points to each series.
A blank point in order to break the line and the min and max dates across both sets of dates.

Now the primary and secondary axes share the same scale.

Charting multiple series with unequal data frequency

    Hello Excel Forum,

I am running Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (11.8332.8333) SP 3. I'm seeking advice about displaying two (or more) series with unequal frequencies:

Series A has 1,631 data points beginning 2/4/1980 and continuing through 5/2/2011. The data are arranged in weekly. New data are available weekly, and would like to add.
Series B has 7,915 data points beginning 1/2/1980 and continuing through 5/13/2011. The data are arranged in daily intervals, minus Saturdays, Sundays and stock market holidays. New data are available daily, and would like to add.

    With thanks,
