    Maximum and Minimum

    Hi,

We fill in a test form every day with 5 test readings taken, by the end of the month I have a grid of readings 5 columns wide by 30 rows deep. I wont to show the maximum and minimum readings taken over the month in maximum and minimum cells at the bottom of each page. How do I search the 150 cells for these figures and put them in the cells required,

    Thanks in advance,

    Andy.

    Re: Maximum and Minimum

Can you not use the MIN and MAX functions?

for example, in a cell enter =MAX(A1:E31) to return the maximum value

    That's OK thanks,

I tried =MAXIMUM and =MINIMUM but that didn't work, does it not work with full words then?

    Thanks for that,

    Best Regards,

    Andy.

It would only work with full words if you had written your own functions.

Another option is to use conditional formatting to colour the cells containing the highest and lowest values, making them immediately visible to you as you enter your daily values?

You could fill the highest value cell RED and the lowest value cell GREEN for example.

Jim, whilst that would certainly highlight the 2 cells but would not do this part of the original request.

in maximum and minimum cells at the bottom of each page.
