sort rows conditional of cell content

I am trying to sort an inspection report by first failures. I need to sort by unit and then by date/time. Filter out blank operators. If the row has Inspection in column C and the row below it has the same unit number and is not another inspection copy that row to another page.In my example the lines in yellow would be copied the one in red would not be.

Thanks in advance to all that look at this to help.

Re: sort rows conditional of cell content

    Hi grsnipe,

I'm not trying to sell new versions of Excel but the answer would be easy with Excel 2007 or 2010.

Search the net (I use Bing.com) for "Excel 2007 Delete Duplicates".

If you had 2007 you would sort by first failure date and delete duplicates based on unit number.

I see a 2003 Add-In that claims it can delete dups. I have no idea if it works.

I hope that helps. (Time for an upgrade?)

    Marvin,
Thank You for your response, I think you may have missed what I am trying to do.
I am using 2007 hence why I posted in this forum. I am trying to locate the first failure after an inspection. There are times when you will have 5 inspections in a row. There are time when there were no failures after an inspection in the reporting period. I will post another sample.

I have posted a revision of what I am starting with. Hopefully to clear up why deleting dupes won't work here.

    Hi grsnipe,

I see your problem is a little more complicated than delete dupes.

Find the attached with a compond if statement to show the rows that make it through the tests. I'd then copy and paste values only on a new page of the surviving rows.

If I needed this done a lot of times with a lot of data I'd be writing some VBA code to extract the rows.

    MarvinP,
Thanks for the help. Yes I have to run this every week on between 750 to 1500 lines. I appreciate the response it will work for me. I will just use the IF formula then filter by that response and copy and paste.
