Sure, just Format the cell as a number and set it to 4 digits. If you click in the cell, you'll see the additional digits are still there but can't be seen otherwise.

in format cell there is the digits are after decimal places
Hiding the last 3 you can do using a custom format of:
0,XXX
but I don't think you can do 4.
Anyone who confuses correlation and causation ends up dead.
Ahhh, with custom formatting you can remove 3 at a time (#,). I don't think there's a way to remove 4 without using Formulas in a different column. (i.e. = INT(A2/10000) )
That will round, showing 12346XXX for the example.0,XXX

Good point. Simple answer is no, then.
but how to hide last 3 digits?
Go to Format Cell>Number>Custom and type in #,XXX
Does that work for you?
i am using excell 2003 and there is no custom option in Format cell>Number
When you click on Format cells and the Format Cells Window opens, it automatically opens to the "Number" tab. There should be a list with the final item being "Custom"
ok reached there, then which option i have to select?
When you click on "Custom", on the right, it'll probably be defaulted to "General", Just type in #,000 and Enter. That should do it. See attached picture
thanks it works
