    =+Sum

This might be a silly question but what is the difference between =+sum, =sum and =+?

    Thanks

    Not sure what you mean...

    is not required (a legacy)

    The difference between

    and

is that the latter explicitly coerces whereas the former does not - if a = 10 and b = "apple" then the first returns 10 and the second returns #VALUE! as "apple" can not be treated as a number.

    It follows that

    is pointless in this context.

    Re: =+Sum

If you're seeing that in someone else's work, it could be the way they do data entry...sometimes if I'm working on a quick calculation and just want to use the number pad, I'll enter a formula as "+9*12" for example....and Excel changes that to "=+9*12".

I wouldn't normally do this for anything but a quick, simple calculation, but perhaps that's why you have that formula showing up in your sheet.
