    Divider Bar in Header

I'm looking to build a black line that runs the width of the page directly underneath the header on the page. Initially I filled row A with black, shrunk to 5 pixels, and ran that across the width of the page. Problem here is I wanted to horizontally center everything on the page, and since the black bar ran the width of the page, nothing was centered. If I shrink the black bar to the size of the table (within the sheet) it's too small and doesn't expand the width of the page.

So I guess I'm looking for a way to install the black bar within the header, and not on the first row of the page. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

could you make use of a picture of a line in the custom header?

If you go to File, Page Setup, and then Header/Footer, then Custom Heaer, you can type custom text for the header to be left-justified, centered, or right-justified. If you type spaces into the center part then format it to be underlined, it may give you what you want.

I am looking at 2007. I have 2003 but not on the machine I am on at the moment, but I believe that the options and dialog box are the same once you get to the Page Setup dailog.

Surprisingly the underlining spaces worked great. Thanks for the tip!
