[ Data Validation > List ] with Blanks

I named a column "resname" without values as of now but later on be filled with names everytime i update the list with new names.

Now i created a data validation > list > and used the source of list as "=resname". but after which i dont see the existing names in the updated list it only shows blank pick list.. Is it because of the blanks? Please help. thanks

Re: [ Data Validation > List ] with Blanks

I just clicked the up arrow and the list showed up hahaha.. but the problem now is i cannot get the error option to work.. I mean when the value entered is not on the list it is supposed to show an error message. before it was working but after adding some more formulas and list in other cells i found out that it was not working properly anymore. any tip?
