Multiple Year, Multiple Consultant, Multiple Client Calendar with multiple views

    Hi All,

I am somewhat new to excel although I have a fair bit of computing background and am a very quick learner. I have spend several hours on the forums trying to find an answer to my problem but have not managed as of yet. I hope someone can help, I have started pulling my hair out!

A bit of background: The business has multiple consultants who are sent to various different companies to give courses. The people from sales need to be able to see a monthly view of what a consultant has on (on one row) and they also need to be able to see a client view (i.e. company x over a row with the different consultants per day). Is their a way to display the information in different ways depending on what they need or do I need to make two seperately organised sheets and somehow link the data from one to another.

Sorry if this is obvious but I am new to this, I hope all you experts will be patient and take pity on me.

    Thanks in advance.

    J.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

    Hello teylyn,

Thanks for the advice, I am also somewhat new to getting help from forums, as my inexperienced post clearly demonstrated! Please see attached a depersonalised version of the current calendar which should make things clearer.

I have put a little key explaining things in C44. At the moment the sheet works well for seeing what each consultant is doing during each month, but I would like to be able to see what each company's schedule is on one line (per company) using the same data. While preserving the possibility of using the original view as well.

I hope the attached sheet makes this all easier to understand.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks in advance,

    J.

Please can someone help with this, even a one line hint would be appreciated. I am getting the feeling that my problem may either be too hard or too easy to merit a response....

In either case any leads would be most welcome....

    I think it's too hard.

You're using Excel to create an arbitrary table of values.

If you were using a list of dates and events instead, you could possibly get a report that looks like your sheet, and other reports as well. But with that colorful thing as the starting point, I'm afraid there's little that can be derived from it.

Maybe Excel is the wrong tool for that kind of think altogether.

I have done similar things in the past, but it requires a sheet containing all the information as a table.

It's too big a job for the forum I think, my was a paid job & I cannot post the solution.
    Hope that helps.
