Hi everyone, I am doing some research for a professor and I ran into the following problem,
The current data is arranged like this:
(all the columns had headings, but pasting it in messed it up)
10101 Acosta, Raymond L.
2000 1 1 3 0 0 0.200
2001 4 0 0 0 0 4/4
2002 2 0 0 0 0 2/2
2003 2 1 0 1 1 0.400
2004 4 0 0 1 1 4/6
2005 7 2 0 0 0 0.778
2006 6 0 0 0 0 6/6
2007 3 1 0 0 0 3/4
2008 3 0 0 0 0 3/3
2009 0 0 0 0 0 0.000
Total 32 5 3 2 2 32/44
10195 Barbadoro, Paul J.
2000 7 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 7/7
2001 8 1 1 3 0 0 0 0 8/13
2002 7 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 7/8
2003 17 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 17/19
2004 11 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 11/12
2005 12 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 12/13
2006 16 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 16/17
2007 6 2 0 0 0 1 1 1 6/11
2008 7 0 1 1 0 0 0 0 7/9
2009 3 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 3/4
Total 94 5 5 5 1 1 1 1 94/113
Basically, I need the name at the top to be pasted into a column a new column, so that each row corresponds to a name:
Acosta, Raymond L. 2000 1 1 3 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. 2001 4 0 0 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. 2002 2 0 0 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. 2003 2 1 0 1 1
Acosta, Raymond L. 2004 4 0 0 1 1
Acosta, Raymond L. 2005 7 2 0 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. 2006 6 0 0 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. 2007 3 1 0 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. 2008 3 0 0 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. 2009 0 0 0 0 0
Acosta, Raymond L. Total 32 5 3 2 2
Basically, the person who compiled this data messed up, and put the name on a cell above all the data (trying to make it look good, I guess), instead of associating the name with the data. The problem is that the spreadsheet contains hundreds of these little "tables" that I need to compile into one huge spreadsheet, with the names arranged as such.
I did a search in the forums, but I was not exactly sure how to phrase the problem, so sorry if this is a re-post....thank you for any help!
EDIT: per davesexcel's suggestion, I have attached a spreadsheet with sample data. Sheet 1 is the data as it current exists, Sheet 2 is a sample of how I want the data to look... Please help! Thanks guys!
