Extract data to separate sheets based on separate criteria

    Hello,

I'm not sure exactly what formula/s I should use to get this done. I have a spreadsheet with three workbooks. The main work book with information in it,

    Workbook 1 (employee info)
LAST NAME FIRST NAME PHONE NO. CITY STATE SHIFT
Dow John 555-555-5555 Portsmouth NH WD 1

    Workbook 2 (Day Shift)
    LAST NAME FIRST NAME

    Workbook 3 (Night Shift)
    LAST NAME FIRST NAME

The data from workbook 1 (employee info) should populate to workbook 2 or 3 based on SHIFT from workbook 1. if SHIFT ends in 1 populate to Workbook 2 if SHIFT ends in 2 Populate to Workbook 3.

    WD 1
    WD 2
    WE 1
    WE 2

I'm thinking something like =employee!A2,IF(employee!F2... the rest is the part I'm not sure about.

    Thank you for your help.

    Re: CALL IF, formula?

Have a look at the attached to see if it meets your request.

First, enter formula in Sheet1, G2:

and copy down.. this is a helper column that counts how many per shift.

    Then in Sheet2 and Sheet3 in I1 enter shift (e.g WD 1, WD 2)

    and in K1 enter formula:

    in each sheet.

then in A2 of each of Sheet2, and Sheet3, enter formula:

and copy across 5 columns to the right and down as far as you need.

Is this a one-off thing you need to do? I so, use Data > Filter > Advanced Filter, and tick the box that allows you to extract the data to another location.

It looks like this will work. However my spreadsheet has a few additional columns that change things so I can't just put in your function. I don't understand your formulas to change them. Can I possibly email you my spreadsheet I would rather not post it do to personal data. I will change all extremely personal data if you don't mind taking a look.
