Smart Art linked to a cell?

    Hi,

I have just noticed the smart art feature in excel 2007 and wondered if it is possible to add cell contents into the art?

    e.g.
The first box I would want it to display cell A1
The second box I would want it to display cell D1
The third box I would want it to display Cell G1

If this can not be done is there any other way of creating this effect easily?

    Hello Pauldaddyadams

Actually you can add formulas on those smart arts but first step is to
    UNGROUP THEM.
Second is select the smart art box then click the formula bar.

There is a little star ( ADD REPUTATION ) below those person who helped you. Click it to say your "PRIVATE APPRECIATION TO THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS "

    Hi

i have completed the attached based on your solution.

Is there any way I can have the user input into the second box? the first and third box will be constant - its only the distance to the customer which will change.

    Directly or via cell?

If via cell then do as previous and select shape and link to a cell.

If directly then ungroup and remove that shape from the group so the use can edit contents.

Re: Smart Art linked to a cell?

    Hi Andy

I need the user to directly enter into the shape in the middle which I then need it to update a cell.

e.g. The user puts in Manchester in the middle column and then the third smart box will show the distance between smart box 1 and smart box 2.

From yesterday you will be familiar with this spreadsheet.

What is the best way of doing it do you think?

    Use a cell directly.

Just re arrange your shapes so the user can get at the cell.
