    Sorting Data with a Common Variable

    Hello all,
    I am new to the forum, hoping to find some help from Excel pros! Your help is greatly appreciated.

    I have a large data set that is formatted as follows:

    I would like to reorganize this exact data so that it displays differently. I'd like to combine the common words in column A and common dates in column B to be my X and Y axis. The following graphic is a small sampling of how I would like to get the data:

    You can easily do this by creating a pivot table.

    This could be done with a pivot table.

    It would have the first column as the row header (Y-axis), the dates as the column header (X-axis) and the third column as a data field.

    You would need to add headers for the 3 columns.
