Query data to make new sheet

I have a spreadsheet that contains thousands of rows. I need to query the data for a specific company name and then have all of the data relating to that company (i.e. every company name that begins with "Dell") copy to a new sheet. A smaller version of my spreadsheet is attached.

Does anyone know of an efficient way to make this happen?? Thanks!

Use the AutoFilter feature to select the company names, then select visible rows to copy and paste to a new sheet.

The easiest way would be to use an Advanced Filter. See the attached updated workbook.

Specify your selection criteria on a new sheet and then select Data | Filter | Advanced Filter

On "Output" sheet, define your criteria in cells A1:A2, for example:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
In the Advanced Filter dialogue box, choose:

    Copy to another location (check)
    List Range: 'Test Aging'!$A:$L
Criteria range: $A$1:$A$2 (on Output sheet)
    Copy to: Output!$A$4

    Click on OK

You can adjust your selection criteria and range as required.

I must be doing something wrong. I followed the instructions but only get the column headings in my "Output" sheet. Can you go over the steps again?? Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Please disregard my last comment. USER ERROR! I figured it out and it worked beautifully.

    Thank you so much.

You're welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm glad you worked it out; I was wondering how I was going to explain it a different way ;-)
