    Simple question from inexperienced user!

    Hi, I'm not too good with working out the codes in Excel and couldn't find what I was looking for in the 'help' section of Excel.

    Basically I'm creating a table for the grades I get at university, and making it average out my mark from all of the grades. However, some modules are weighted differently to others, and I wondered if this could be put into the equation.

    For example, I have two essays in one module. One is worth 40%, the other 60%. How do I write the equation so Excel will calculate my overall score for the module, taking into account the different weightings of different assignments?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

    If undestand your question, I think this is might help.

    A B C D E F
    1 Module Essay1 Essay2 Grade Essay1 Grade Essay2 Final Grade
    2 Maths 40% 60% 15 17 16,2
    3 History 30% 70% 12 14 13,4

    Formula in F1 -> =(D2*B2)+(E2*C2)
    Formula in F2 -> =(D3*B3)+(E3*C3)

    Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
    To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.
    Hope that helps.
