How to name a specific point in a chart?

    Hello,

If you mouse-over a point in a plot, it shows the series name, de point number and the coordinates.

I was wondering if it is possible to give those points a specific name?!?!?

    So for instance:

    X Y name
    1 2 a
    3 4 b
    5 6 c

now when I mouse over the point (1:2) I want Excel to show "a", when I mouse over point (3:4) I want Excel to show "b" etc.

I know it is possible to do this with Excel if you specifie each coordinate as a sepperate line. But since I have like 450 point is in that line i dont want to manually have to assign each point and each name...

So if u have any sugestions, please help me out!

    Hey Andy,

Thanks for the quick reply. I looked into it, my only problem is that it is an Plug-in. If I ask someone else to open the file on a different computer they cant use the plug-in. Is there any way u can do this and other people can still see and use the chart?

The only solution for many users seeing the bespoke hover label is to write code similar to that in the addin.

This involves capturing chart events and manipulating a display label. This is not a simple task. Search for Chart Events for links to web pages on the subject
