Exporting to Excel Number Format Issue

At work I have to export a report into Excel. We have some very long quote numbers that get abbreviated to scientific notation in the process. When I click on the cell, I see the entire length of the quote number except the last digit is changed to '0.' Verifying the correct quote number adds considerable work. Is there a way to configure Excel to not automatically change the number format when I export?

    Thank you for your help.

Re: Exporting to Excel Number Format Issue

Excel has some limitations on the length of actual numerics it can process as numbers. However, if these account codes are simply for reference (you never add account codes. right?), then having Excel import that particular column of values as TEXT should solve the display problem.

Format the target column as TEXT prior to the import, or change your import routine to specifically select that column of values and mark it as TEXT during the import.

Re: Exporting to Excel Number Format Issue

Thank you for your help, JBeaucaire. I was afraid I couldn't turn off the auto-format for long numbers sinceI I didn't see anything in the options. sadly, the export function is hard-coded into the report so I can't change it.

    Thank you, though.
