Sum within cell

I have one value 143 in a cell

I want to sum this in another cell like 1+4+3 = 8

What is the fuction.

where A1 holds the string / number

if the string / number is not in A1 you need only modify the first and last references to A1 in the above formula (leave all other references as they are)
