SUMIF formula

Hello,

I am not sure what I'm doing wrong with this formula. It may even be that I'm using the wrong formula.

What I need to do is tally up total sales in the "Sales Forecast" worksheet, for each month from the "Sales Assumptions" worksheet.

However when I tried the following formula in the month of January Cell B4 I get a zero:

Can anyone help with a correct formula? Should I be using some type of lookup formula?

what column is the data in in the "Sales Forecast" worksheet? your first problem is probably that you are not referencing "Sales Forecast" worksheet in your formula.

Hello RMB,

I am trying to display in Cell B9 of the "Sales Forecast" worksheet, the total net sales for January from the "Sales Assumptions" worksheet. I want to then be able to copy the correct formula across and down.

In column B of "Sales assumptions" you have date values (formatted to display the month name) while in Sales Forecast B1 you only have a text name for the month. Excel won't match these things together.

On Forecast:

In B1: 1/1/2011
In C1: 2/1/2011

Drag across to M1.

On Assumptions, in B6 and copy down: =C6-DAY(C6)+1

The solution will depend on how you need to structure your data, so it's up to you. Do you need column B to contain the date or would the month number suffice?
