I have a list of totals headed Part 1, Part 2... up to 20. I'd like to be able to write in a cell 1,2,4 or 2-10 to add up specific cells as you would to print certain pages. Is this possible at all?

Have you considered using a pivot table? It wouldn't work how you describe but they are very flexible as far as what information they use in the calculation.
