Need text in column of pivot table

I am looking to create a pivot table that contains a column that would display text. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to configure it to do so.

Here is a brief example of the outcome I am looking for:

I know it may be simple, but it is evading me.

Have you gone through some of the online tutorials for Pivot Tables?

If you have and you still don't understand.. post a sample workbook of the data (non-confidential) and a sample of the desired result.

You need to go to Insert > Pivot Table, and highlight your data set (including the labels for the columns of data!)

Then once you do that click ok and you will see a greyish empty box. Click inside it and you will see a column appear to the right with your header rows for your data. Click on them and drag them in one of the four areas below such as Row or Column. Do this for a while, and play around with the pivot table until you feel comfortable.

I reviewed several tutorials. It quickly stopped me in my tracks when they said that you could not put text in the "data fields" as I had in the attached example.

Oh well. Had to try.

Not sure if it would work for you, but perhaps you can add a column outside the table that perhaps performs a Vlookup of some sort to get the text you want (if that is achievable)?
