    Alternative need for Pivot Table

I wish to create a model which groups records, performing counts, that gives Users the ability to drill into the data like a Pivot table would.

A Pivot doesn't layout like required.
Using the Subtotals method looks very untidy
Ideally a method that would let you double click a cell, and have it use that valuet o "query" the underlying data...

E.G. Students, apply themselves to courses, and they get either a positive of negitive score. So I need to group the courses, sum the total positive or negitives, and also count the number of scores grouped by 1 to 5 or -1 to -5. Being able to "Drill in". Ideally with little arrows...

I have attached a mock-up. The real deal would have thousands of records...

    Many thanks

I have gone with a Pivot. The development required to fit the purpose would have been to great.

You can apply format -> autoformat to pivot tables, if that helps...

If you feel really indebted please consider a donation to charity. My preferred charity is ActionAid but there are plenty of worthy alternatives.
