    Excel validation and delimited lists again

    Hi all,

    I am new here and I am usually quite safe with EXCEL however this one really drives me crazy.
    I have an EXCEL workseet with multiple sheets.

    In the data validation window I typed:

    =if(D17=$Z$6, hydraulic_components,
    if(D17=$Z$7, electric_components,
    "" ))

    (With D17 calling a small fix list consising of Z6:Z8.....and the lists are obviously defined)

    The intention is to get a list returned that is based on the small drop down (Z6:Z8)

    So this works fine on one sheet of my workbook....but on another the same approach with differently labelled lists, it returns

    list needs to be a delimited list or single row or column

    there are no merged cells .........it is just 100% the same stuff..... ???????
    But all of a sudden EXCEL turns stubborn.

    Any idea???? Any hint would be much appreciated.

    cheers

    Josch

    Hello,

    can you attach the actual file? Delete everything that is not required and replace confidential data with dummy data before posting.

    cheers,
