Conditional format, change a different cell?

    Hi All,
I am working on a spreadsheet that has a name and a value.

What I am looking for is the name to be a color if there is no value in the cell next to it, and then change to a different color if a value is entered

I am making a bills spreadsheet and want the bill name to be highlight red if no value is entered in the cell next to it, and change to green when I enter a value in,

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks
    Spool

Assuming the range is in A2:B10 and your entries are made in A2:A10, then select B2:B10 and go to format|Conditional formatting,

Select Formula Is from drop down and enter formula: =A2=""

click Format and choose Red from Pattern tab,

    Click Ok.

    Click Add

    Repeat with formula: =A2<>""

    and choose Green.

(note: Change A2 to match upper most cell you select before formatting).
Where there is a will there are many ways.
