How to add cells and find average

How can I add cells if I set the cells up with a value such as A1: 5/5 and B1: 4/5 and total them up in C1: to get 9/10 (including the slash). - Thanks

Hi fleaflicker and welcome to the forum.

See if http://www.addictivetips.com/microso...010-fractions/ helps. Your profile shows you have 2003 so I don't know if it will apply.

Re: How to add cells and find average

I apologize if I wasn't clear, but I am not using fractions in this instance, these are results from a tally..such as 4 out of 5 and 5 out of 5..i'm trying to enter these numbers in a format such as 4/5 and 5/5 and total them up - Thank You again.

Re: How to add cells and find average

    Hi,
I think I'd put an equal sign in front of the 4 out of 5 (=4/5) and 5 out of 5 (=5/5) and this will convert it to real numbers. Then at the end I'd give a PerCent answer instead of trying to say 9/10 - I'd be saying it was 90%.

I used to teach converting decimals to fractions but % are most likely better understood.
