Excel 2007 : Update Custom Cell format

I have a custom cell format that I need to change. It is used in quite a few spreadsheets and I need to remove the Space at the end. When I try do do it in Format Cells, it adds a new custom format. If I delete the old one, I lose the formating in my cells and will have to go back and fomat all the cells again. How can I update the existing format?

I want to correct the old one. But when I try, it adds the correct as a new format. I want that one used in all my spreadsheets instead of the old one.

I am not sure you can do that, you would have to select the cells first then apply new format....

Possibly it can be done with VBA, but we need a VBA expert to tell us...

I was hoping to find where it is saved and manually update it there.

If I apply a custom format to some cells, say 0xxxxx

then I select a few of those cells and revise the format by adding a new format 0xxx then those cells get updated accordingly, then I can select the other cells and apply this new format and it will still be in my list of custom formats along with the new format...

Not sure I am following.

That I know will work. I have 75 sperad sheets, each with 10 worksheets and they all use that format in as many as 100 columns.

Found a work around to change them all using macros, changed 1 worksheet and create macro to change them all and then use that one to change the 75. Only way I could figure it out.

But thanks for getting back to me and trying to help.
