    Deleted sheet

I think I may have made a catastrophic error!!!

I always copy a certain worksheet to a new book to analyze the data and delete columns so I don't have to save the information I don't want.

However, last night when opening the workbook, it asked if I wanted to update links and there has never been any links to outside workbooks.

What I found is that it is referencing Book2 (the book that was created when I moved the sheet to another workbook instead of copying it). I didn't save Book2. It still has the correct data that it is referencing as of yesterday.

Is there anyway to get the sheet back or find Book2 that it is referencing or is there a history file within excel?

    thanks for any help,

    Josh

You can go to Edit|Links and Break Links.. this will convert your linked cells to Values, so that it won't try to link again.

For an "extremely" important file....you can restore Windows back one day....but everything you did in between will be gone.

I don't think that system restore can recover files
    Hope that helps.

You might be right royUK, I haven't used it myself. My IT guy used it the other day when we had a problem with a secretary's computer....she's one of those who clicks on everything and then didn't know what she had done....LOL

thanks for the responses, I did send the file last week so I have the file from a week ago and will just have to re-create the missing data.

    thanks,
