    Cell with reference

    Hello!

    It`s easy but....

    How to keep the formatting in a cell with reference?

    Example:

    If A1= A2
    and A2 = "ABCD ^ xxxx"

    A1 = "ABCD xxxx" why?

    I can't reproduce your problem, so either I don't understand it or you are not describing what you actually have.

    Please see the attached file for my interpretation of what you wrote.

    You will get the fastest answer if you attach your own file.

    Re: Cell with reference

    There is no way built into Excel to do this. You will notice that even if you use Format Painter to copy the format from one cell to another, it will not copy individual character formatting that you want in your example.

    It must be done by writing custom code in VBA. There have been similar questions in the past. I have written some code to do this, but in your case the formatting is down to the individual character level, which adds complexity that I didn't include.

    By the way your thread title does not match what you are actually asking. I suggest you change the title to:

    Make cell format match the format of the cell it is referencing
