Cell drag problem

Hi All,

Can anyone help with this Excel 2007 issue?

I have a workbook with many sheets. Suddenly the auto drag feature is not behaving as previously.

If I put 1 in cell A1, 2 in A2 and 3 in A3, select the three cells, and using the drag handle drag to fill cells A4 – A6, I get 1, 2, 3 repeated and not 4, 5, 6 as expected. When I release the mouse button all cells are filled with 1.

If on the same sheet I put 1 in cell A1, 2 in B1 and 3 in C1 and then select the three cells, and using the drag handle drag to fill cells D4 –F6, I get 4, 5, 6 as expected.

Any idea why this feature is working ok across the sheet and not down?

The only thing that I know I have done recently that may have caused the change (but I do not know how) is to paste some data in Excel 2003 format onto the sheet. When I did this shortly afterwards I noticed the row numbers had changed from dark blue to light grey. At the same time about 40 rows ‘hid’ themselves and I needed to manually drag them to enlarge them to get them back

Any thoughts?

ok - maybe try to clear all in the editing tab on the home ribbon. Without seeing the sheet its difficult to diagnose the problem as i have never come accross this befor.

SOLVED Just cracked the problem - I'd left a filter on, on one of the other cols - Thanks for your input Blake 7
