Dynamic cell references in Excel 2010

I have a list (column) in one worksheet [sheet1!A1:A120 (for example)] which I want to use to repopulate a two dimensional array in another. [sheet2!A1:G1, A3:G3, A5:G5, etc].
I also want to be able to specify a variable start point on the fly [maybe start with sheet1!A3 rather than A1]
I don't have any skills with VBA. I hope someone out there can help.

Hi IvanovaTC and welcome to the forum,

If you can give us a sample worksheet of what you have and want to get to, it is much easier to deal with. Create a small sample workbook with the problem and attach it to your message. You need to click on "Go Advanced" below the message area and then on the PaperClip Icon to get to the "attach a file" window.

    hope that helps.

Here is a small sample. I want the list items to run in order across under the days, i.e. Monday, then Tuesday, then Wednesday through the week, then onto the next week (for a duty roster) Sometimes I will need to start with the first name on the list, but want to be able to dynamically change the start point if needed.

    Hi IvanovaTC,

If you already have a lot of data you are already dealing with, then a macro may make sense to put it in order.
Otherwise you might look at templates on the Microsoft Office Template website to see if one works better for you. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...av=my%2Ezxl120

You didn't give me enough information about your problem to deal with it yet. Sorry if I'm a little dense.

Re: Dynamic cell references in Excel 2010

    Thanks again MarvinP

I don't want to reorder the data, I want to copy it to the new locations, in the same order. I had hoped that there would be some kind of "code" (or macro instructions) that would allow me to tell excel to "copy the value of the cell under the last one I pasted", then I could originally point to the name that I wanted to start with and the rest of the list would paste across into the destination cells, in order.

    Does this make sense?

    Hi,

I'm sorry but I just didn't get your example. Maybe somebody else has seen this layout.

    Hi Ivanova

I agree with Marvin, your explanation of what you want to happen is too vague.

Can you explain what information you want to copy, and to where, maybe including cell and sheet references? Currently the attachment makes very little sense.
