Using LOOKUP from user input in a single cell

I need to create a PIN-protected digital signature. My idea is to have a cell where the user types in his PIN, and from a table on a linked worksheet containing a column of PINs and their respective names, LOOKUP finds his name and replaces the PIN number with his name. For aesthetic and security reasons, I'd like this to all happen in a single cell so that the PIN disappears when the user hits enter, to be replaced by his name.

    Any help appreciated!

If you want the user to type data into a cell, and then change the data in the same cell, you need to use VBA. Have you ever written Excel macros?

Can you specify the name of the worksheet that will have the PINs and name, and the exact format of that sheet? I assume from your description that PINs are unique.

By the way, another solution is to create a userform and then use a textbox with password masking enabled, which works just like when you type a password in on a web form.
