    Move your formula from conditional formatting to the cells themselves, then add them up.

    Re: gantt chart help

    So, I went to your first cell, H3, and opened the conditional formatting dialogue. Then I got the formula out:
    =AND(H$2>=$F3,H$2<=$G3)
    then I just adjusted it to return not true/false but the number of men working the team:
    =IF(AND(H$2>=$F3,H$2<=$G3),$C3,0)
    Then I copied and pasted this formula into H3 and copied it across & down.

    To make it look neater you can format the cells with white text and make the conditional formatting change both cell 'pattern' and font colour to green.

    Also, to make the worksheet run slightly quicker you can now use value is formatting on the cells:
    value is not 0 then colour in cell

    Finally, you'll need to prevent your cells erroring out causing a problem. Changing D3:
    =IF(B3,QUOTIENT(B3,C3),0)
    Works, although you may want to do something more cosmetic
