Put a point on a bar chart with a constant y and an x-value from a cell

any ideas? I have a bar chart that has a range of dates over a year and I have another chart that dynamically updates to show a magnified week according to the date in a cell. I want the big chart to have a dot on it to show the range or start date of the magnified version.
    help!

If the bar is really a bar chart then you can use a xy-scatter series.
If it's actually a column chart then a Line series could be used.

Excellent, thank you, I was trying to add it as a line chart using existing date values, with a scatter I was able to use specific ones. Thanks again.
