    SUMIF not finding everything

I have a 2 columns on a worksheet that gets populated via a UserForm and use this data for a chart. I'm totaling the column with a SUMIF formula but I can't seem to get the SUMIF criteria worked out so that it picks up everything that I need. In my Cause Code column it might have 3 Fitting, and that get's picked up by the formula =SUMIF($P$2:$P$12,"3 Fitting",$Q$2:$Q$12)

...but where I am having trouble is if there are more than 1 cause codes entered for a non-conformance...ie 3 Fitting, 11 Inspection

Neither of these cause codes will get picked up by either formulas:
    =SUMIF($P$2:$P$12,"3 Fitting",$Q$2:$Q$12)
    =SUMIF($P$2:$P$12,"11 Inspection",$Q$2:$Q$12)

What can I add to these formulas to make them work?
