Can't open large file in Excel 2007

    Hi all,
I've got Excel 2007 (32 bit) on Windows 7 (64-bit). I'm trying to open a .csv file and it gives no error, no complaint, no hourglass, no nothing. But the file doesn't open.

It is a 3.5 Gig file. I'm not sure how many rows--but I'm thinking if it's more than the million or so allowed in excel 2007, it would be nice if Excel had the common courtesy to explain that instead of failing silently.

So is there a way to open this in excel at all or at least find out why it won't open? Thanks,
    --Jim

3.5 gigs is a very large file.

    davesexcel,
Thanks, I looked at that thread. It's a bit different--he get's an error message. I get nothing. No hourglass, no message, it's as if I didn't even attempt to open the file at all.

This happens either dbl-clicking the file itself, or right-clicking the file and doing open-with...Excel, or opening excel normally and navigating to the file and opening it. It's an absolute non-event. I could understand if this was a 32 bit version, which I vaguely recall had a 2-gig filesize limit for certain operations, but I don't think there's such a limit on 64-bit Win7.
    Thanks,
