Excel 2007 Data Validation Issue

I have a named range on a worksheet which I am using for a dropped down list on a separate sheet. The drop down works but if I type in something wrong it won't it just clears it but no error.

I have the ignore blanks unchecked and the show error after alert checked.

Why can't I get the error message to come up?

Go the Error Alert tab of Data Validation the checkbox at the top "show error alert after invalid data is entered" should be checked.
