    Trendline Forecast

I am currently trying to do a trendline forecast but Excel 2011 (Mac) won't let me backcast more than 5 periods. I know about the LINEST command but I only want the backcast to be from the trendline.

I can go more than 5 periods in older versions of Excel, but not in 2011.

    How about the TREND function?

The TREND function calls upon the LINEST function. I only want a graphical representation as is possible in Excel 2003. I don't want hard data that requires input of additional formulas.

My point was, you can get the parameters of the trendline, and then plot that as another series as long as you like.

If you don't want to do that, I have no further suggestion.

I understand your suggestion. I just don't understand why you would suggest it. I have 52 different sets of data and I do not want to find parameters and create another 52 data series.

If I wanted to do that I wouldn't bother with the automatic trendline in the first place......

Probably because my clairvoyance as to the particulars of your situation failed me. Good luck.
