Excel 2007 : Change color of particular category label on axis

I have setup a bar chart, states listed on the Y-axis, percentages listed along the X-axis.
I want to make a few of the states listed in the axis bold and different colors. I've figured out how to change their respective bar colors but not the category label. I've tried to double click on the particular label, as in single click and then click again, but that won't let me select the label.

Any ideas?
