2 or 3 simple queries about protection of cells/vba/sheets

I know you can protect the sheet with a password etc. the basics... BUT

- I am going to be sending a spreadsheet to a end user - I want certain sections of the sheet available for them to open files via hyperlinks and tick confirmation after they have approved it etc
- but I also need to protect the VBA in the background so they cannot edit this at all.
- I also want certain documents they open to be read only so they can read but not edit BUT some I need them to be able to edit, but track their edits.

e.g.


I have a sheet with 5 hyperlinks to files - I want 3 of the files to be read only and protected.. and 2 to be able to open and edit PARTS of it while the rest of the cells I choose and the vba remain protected.

is it possible to do all this

Select the cells you want to give them editable access to- and right click>> format cells>> Protection>> Remove the tick mark for locked


and for VBA password protect
IN the VBE go to Tools | VBAProject preferences. In there, in the second tab, check the "Lock from viewing" and supply a password.

its hard to test on myself. because I have access to it obviously I don't know what effect anything is having.

you say remove the locked tick (which would imply its already locked from editing) but when I sent it home by email to my laptop I could edit anything I want before removing any lock ticks
