    How To Do Simple Vlookup?

I need to do what I think should be a simple vlookup formula...but I have no idea how to properly enter the formula to achieve the result I need.

Quite simply, I have 2 different worksheets. Each worksheet has a column of different unique alphanumeric values. (product SKU's, actually)

I want to build a Vlookup or similar formula that will look at the unique alphanumeric value in the first sheet, and reference the 2nd sheet to see what the value in a corresponding column (same row) is for that.

    For example,

In Column A, Row 1, on Worksheet 1, the value is: AA1
In Column A, Row 144, on Worksheet 2, the value is: AA1
In Column B, Row 144, on Worksheet 2, the value is: 1234

What I want to do is be able to enter a formula on the first worksheet that will help me to the find that "1234" value on the 2nd worksheet.

    Any advice/tips?

If you know the range of row numbers on sheet 2 you could specify them. e.g.

Try the formula in sheet 1 B1.

Thanks very much, that is close to working...but I'm getting a #REF! error for some reason. Do you know any common mistakes that would case the #REF! error?

    Another question:

This formula seems to get the value that is in Column B ok:

    =VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2!A:B,2,1)

However, if I want to get the value that is in Column F, for example, how would I alter that formula to get the Column F Value from Sheet2 ?

If you had read the link I gave you would have seen the Troubleshooting section.

That probably would have answered your question:

The link was provided to give you an understanding of the function.

Don't forget to mark your thread as SOLVED - click on the FAQ button at top of page for instructions (if needed).

And you might want to click the scales icon for the members who provided you with the answer you wanted.

You are right. I should have read that link more closely. I just figured it out. Thanks so much.

You're welcome. Thanks for the "scales tap" but I didn't mean for me.

    Don't forget the SOLVED part.
