Excel 2007 : Fill handle not working properly

The fill handle is not allowing me to fill a series 1, 2, 3, 4.... But rather is copying the previous cell. When I finish dragging it does not show the short menu allowing me to select the fill series option. This function was working up until yesterday and appears to be only a problem for this one document. Any suggestions?

Go to Tools/Options/Edit tab/check Show Paste Options checkbox

Whoops, I gave you directions for XL2003...

For XL2007 go to File/Options/Advanced/check Show paste options checkbox

I tried Office button/Exel options/advanced/... Under cut/copy/paste all boxes are checked. Still, the fill handle only copies the cells and will not do a series.
When I go to the document ribbon/Home tab/editing... the fill drop down menu show series in gray and will not allow me to slect it.

I resolved the issue. I had some column filters on that for some reason were affecting the fill handle. When I removed the filters the fill handle began working again.

Hi,

I had the same problem but found a different solution: in Excel 2007, go to the 'Formulas' tab and the 'Calculation Options' drop down menu and ensure that 'Automatic' is checked.
