Hi r.coon,
A quick internet search found this article.

I never knew I could Shift+Click on the Next button and it would look for previous.
Excel has so much stuff in it, how can any of us know it all?
Does it help?

Thanks for the link, it may prove useful. I want to use a formula to find next previous occurance of text, then do some computation between cells associated with those two text occurances. Therefore I need to use the formula answer not the keystroke answer, but I'm not sure I understood the formula answer. It seemed it was written in shorthand assuming the reader was already familiar with the concept.
what formula, care to share?
