    Question Data Connections - General Overview

    Let me preface this by stating I am not familiar with data connections at all. I have generated some existing connections and "imported" the existing data into one of my worksheets which is great for now, however, I need help on how to have the data refresh.

    All the documents (I am pulling in data from Excel workbooks) are located on a server to which my computer has been mapped to read as another drive. I noticed that if I opened the workbook, I could created an existing connection and import that data I needed.

    My problem is that I need to know how to edit this connection (or create a new one) such that the data can be refreshed by clicking refresh. I currently get an error that says the data is not accessible, I am assuming because the document is closed and/or not saved locally on my computer.

    Thanks in advace for the help! Let me know if any of that is unclear...

    Try using the network address instead of the mapped network drives.

    For example instead of using
    H:/exceldocuments/excel.xlsx
    use
    //domain/shares/exceldocuments/excel.xlsx

    Sometimes using the mapped network drive it can get wonky when you're not looking through your pc, along with other issues.
