How to Lookup last occurence of name in column

    Hi

I have a list of names that repeat - 96 rows in all - in column R
In Column U the last occurence of the name in column R will have a numeric value
All names (22 in total) appear in column V

Here is what I want to achieve
In Column AN, I want to reference the name in column V, then lookup the last occurence of this in column R and return the number associated to this that is in column U

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
    Neil

Re: How to Lookup last occurence of name in column

    Try

    =Lookup(2,1/($R$2:$R$97=V2),$U$2:$U$97)

adjust ranges to suit and copy down.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

I have done this. Question - why have you removed the quoted section of my reply to NBVC?

Re: How to Lookup last occurence of name in column

Quoting entire posts is usually unnecessary clutter to the thread and to the database. You should only quote posts if it is not obvious who you are responding to within the thread or if you want to quote a specific part of a post in order to emphasize or direct you reply/comment to that specific part of a person's post.

Moderators will remove the unnecessary quotes as they are discovered.

Please just use the Post Reply instead of Quote.

I see your point, though it wasn't like it was a huge section that I quoted.

I make the point of replying with quotes on forums, as it annoys the hell out of me when people don't and it's hard to see who replied to what.
OK, in this case it was obvious, but I just make it a habit.
