    Border formatting

I have a spread sheet that I need help with some border issues.

In cell b34 is a drop down menu where either "my company" or "customer" is selected. I than have a formula in b35 so that if "customer" is selected text appears but if "my company is selected (which is what it will be 95% of the time) it remains blank. In cells c35, d35 and e35 I have added a bottom border for an answer line for when "customer" is selected. Is there a way to make the lines appear only if "customer" is selected in b34 like I did with the text in b35?

    Look into using conditional formatting.

    Re: Border formatting

I tried but maybe doing it wrong because nothing happened. I don't think I was doing it right. What would be the correct format for an if formula to yield the result I want if it is true?

    Re: Border formatting

Set conditional formatting on cell b35 as follows:
    =$B$34="customer"

format the border as you see fit.
