    Excel Charts (Plotting Points Vertically)

So I am creating charts in excel.

My problem is that I want to use the data that is being projected/plotted horizontally to be plotted vertically.

I've done a simple switch of the axis (hitting the switch button) and its turned the data into multiple series. I just want it to be one series and one color. If I do it in a row or column format, it doesn't matter, it will either project horizontally or stack itself vertically under multiple series. I'm thinking okay, I like how it looks stacked vertically, now how do I turn these points into 1 series?

It's as if I just want to literally flip the chart on it's side, re-label the X/Y axis and be done with it. It won't be a total fix, but it will be a major break-through in the entire process. I think once I do that I can work out all the kinks with automation.

    Anyone have any idea?

You don't say what chart type but I assume Line.

If you want the line to run vertically rather than horizontal you will need to plot as a xy-scatter.

If you require the y axis to have textual labelling then you will need to build a fake axis using a dummy data series and data labels.

Post an example workbook if you need more help.

Yes, they are line charts. I am going to use XY-Scatter now (due to recent discoveries). Let me get this thing up so someone can see what I am talking about.

So, attached is what I am going for.

Horizontal axis = numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 and so on and so on... They actually represent months out.

Vertical Axis = Percentages that I will eventually adjust.

I would put the document if the information wasn't too sensative.

Maybe a line chart will suffice.

It's makes it a lot easier to help if you create a example as well, replace sensitive information with dummy data, rather than just a sketch.

This is exactly where I am at.

You're close! Except, I need all the data to be one color under number 1. So for this attachment, the 5 blue points should be stacked up over Horizontal axis dash number 1. 4 stacked over red, and so on and so on...

Slice and dice it anyway you want, it looks to be set up for a line chart...

I really don't know how to work an XY Scatter chart (dummy data and all). Much help would be greatly appreciated!
