Plus 1 month to the current planning

    Hi,

I am doing the planning for the completion of the task by month.

i.e: Task1 will be completed in May but i was asked to take a buffer by adding 1 month extra so that i can compensate any delay that might happen. So the buffer planning for this Task1 shoud be in June.

I have attached a worksheet as reference

Could you please advise how to do so in excel?

    Thanks,

First enter your completion dates as real dates ( say 01/05/11 in A1) and format as "mmm" Then enter =eomonth(a1,1) in B1 and format the same way

    Hi,

    Thanks you very much.

it is a must that i have to change from May to a real date? We have planned for more than 1000 tasks with just the normal text (May, Aug, Oct, Dec), and if so then i have to change this more than 1000 time.

    Please kindly advise.

    Thanks
    sanlen

    Try this formula in C3

    =TEXT((B3&1)+31,"mmm")
    Audere est facere

may1....or jun1 etc. (or even 1may, 1jun) will be interpreted as a date (1st May), so if you add 31 that will always give you some date within the next month

Try typing just 1may into a cell in Excel.....or dec1 etc. it should immediately revert to a date.....
