    =now() does not update?

    Hi all.

    I am using the following formula

    =TIME(HOUR(NOW()),MINUTE(NOW()),SECOND(NOW()))

    to return the local time.

    However, the time does not update unless I either update the formula or plug another formula somwhere else.

    I am preparing this as part of a tool for my team and it would be helpful if I could get the time to update on its own without user input. Is this possible?

    Thank you in advance.

    Go to Formulas tab and then click Calculation Options in the Calculation section and select Automatic.
    Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Thanks NBVC, but it is set to automatic. Tried setting it as manual then resetting it to Auto and still same issue. Time only updates when I input a value on the sheet.

    Sorry, i might have misread..

    That is how the Now() and Today() and any other volatile function works. It only updates when a change or a refresh (F9) occurs... it is not a clock with constant changing time....

    Thanks again for the response. I guess I am basically trying to insert a clock into excel :P

    That will require VBA... do a google search on "insert clock" & "excel" or something similar...
