    Multi conditional text formatting

I have a colum of about 9,000 rows with numbers stored as text. The "numbers" range from 1 digit to 4 digits. I need to get all the "numbers" to be 4 digits with leading zeros for the 1,2 & 3 digit numbers...

    Anyone have a suggestion??

    thanks,
    Bud

Assuming that the data starts in A1, type =LEFT("0000",4-LEN(A1)) & A1 into B1 and copy down. To remove the formulae, select column B, copy and then paste special values.
